THE ERCIAN SIGN
THE ERCIAN SIGN, MYSTICAL NAMES & SYMBOLS

As a Christian, when I was Catholic, I used the sign of the cross. As an Ercian, I do something similar but more complicated. I have added the Mother and the Daughter to the Father and the Son. Then, by using the phrase “the Spirits of our Houses,” I have placed the Holy Spirit in the company of the Unholy Spirit—not an evil spirit as I explained in “BECOME AN ERCIAN,” but the Fatherly Spirit whose duty is to protect us.

To do the Ercian sign, the 444 sign, the sign of “the three fours,” I begin with my right index finger on my forehead and say, “In the name of the Mother.” Then, I lower my right hand toward my abdomen and say, “...and of the Son.” Then I touch my left shoulder with my right hand saying, “...and of the Father.” Then I touch my right shoulder with my right hand saying, “...and of the Daughter.” Then, I bring my left hand to meet my right hand at the right shoulder, and bring my left hand to my abdomen saying, “...and of the Spirits.” Then, I bring my left hand up to touch my forehead and say, “...of our Houses.” Then, I bring my left hand to touch my right shoulder and say, “...Amen and...” Then, I finish by bringing my left hand to touch my left shoulder while saying, “Xamen.”

What I just described takes place fluidly, gracefully. For example, after I say “Amen,” my left hand is already halfway over to my left shoulder when I say “and” and before I finish the Ercian sign with “Xamen.”  I explained it slowly, so that you would not get confused.

For some reason, the website will not let me "paste" the drawing here, but I inserted a file at the top of this page with the Sign. The Ercian Sign represents the “three fours,” one facing right, one facing right but upside down, and one facing left but upside down.

Notice that the Ercian Sign is a cross with a line uniting the top (the Mother) with the right point (the Daughter) with the bottom point (the Son) with the left point (the Father).

ERCIAN MYSTICAL NAMES*

*Note: If you become an Ercian who “chooses” to pray, which is recommended, you do not have to use the mystical names below. You can just use “Father,” “Mother,” “Son” and “Daughter” as shown before. To name the “Spirits,” in your prayers just use the phrase “The Spirits of Our Houses.”  One is for blessings, the other one for protection. Also, the language that must be used to say the Mystical Names is SPANISH. Those are the phonetical sounds equal to those that inspired me, and the way I pray. When these words are spoken in English, they sound awkward, weird, and do not carry the intended spiritual force.

MOTHER
: IMAY DONNAI (630 in the Chart of Six the same as “godmother”)

SON
: IZO DONN
(582 in the Chart of Six the same as “baptizer”)

FATHER
: ZADONNAI (504 in the Chart of Six the same as “godfather”)

DAUGHTER: IZA DONNA (Also 504 in the Chart of Six the same as “daughter”)

THE HOLY SPIRIT
: ERBA LUCERNA ZADONNAI
(1104 in the Chart of Six the same as the entry “the Holy Spirit”)

THE UNHOLY SPIRIT
: ABBRE LUCERNA IBA IMAY DONNAI
(1314 in the Chart of Six the same as the entry “the Unholy Spirit”)

Why is an “Unholy” Spirit necessary, you may ask?

Imay Donnai, the Motherly Spirit, is also the Holy Spirit, the Sacred Spirit, the Nurturing Spirit, and the Spirit of the Cup of our Houses.

Zadonnai, the Fatherly Spirit, is also the Unholy Spirit, the Profane Spirit, the Fighting Spirit, and the Spirit of the Sword of our Houses.

Now, before you go running for a Christian cross or some holy water wondering why I would make the godfather, the “Unholy” Spirit, let me explain my rationale. It does not mean the godfather is evil or that I want Zadonnai to be evil. What it means is that since the god Father is in charge of our protection with the Sword of our Houses, there will be fighting and killing to defend our lives, our possessions, and our freedoms; but even when done with due justification and for good reasons, injuring or killing others is an unholy act. The job of the Holy Spirit is to nurture. The job of the Unholy Spirit is to protect by destroying if necessary.

If that is so, then why is the name “Zadonnai” included in the mystical name of the Holy Spirit and the name “Imay Donnai” included in the mystical name of the Unholy Spirit? Should it not be the other way around?

The reason this is done is so that the Spirits of the Ercian Houses work in “unison.” To be in agreement, the Mother or Holy Spirit must ask the Father or Unholy Spirit for permission to impart blessings on supplicant members of Our Houses when answering prayers. Bad or evil people may be denied blessings by the god Father. By the same token, the Father or Unholy Spirit must ask the Mother or Holy Spirit for permission to grant protection to supplicant members of Our Houses. In other words, there may be instances when “granting protection” to an individual or group of people means that force or violence against another individual or group of people may be necessary. Wanting to protect “all” Her children, even those that have not been “good” is the motherly instinct. Therefore, there are times when the god Mother may delay granting permission for the use of force, to see if a more peaceful solution can be found. When there is a prolonged stalemate, a “way” is found to break up the impasse.

As much as we should hate to fight or kill, however, it is necessary for our survival. We do not want to leave the Earth to authoritarian regimes, religious fanatics, or anybody else who is going to trample on our inalienable ERC-given rights. If anybody deserves Hell, it is them not us.

Note that while I use the word “Amen” to finish my prayers to the god Mother and Holy Spirit, I use the word “Xamen” to finish my prayers to the god Father or Unholy Spirit. The letter “X” is the stopper. It symbolizes protection for us, and destruction for the evil plans of our enemies.

OTHER ERCIAN SYMBOLS

When I pray, I do certain signs with my hands and fingers that are difficult to describe. Just know that I use the lemniscate to symbolize Erc, God-Unconscious. The lemniscate looks like a horizontal figure eight that stands for “infinity” in Mathematics.

        For
Ellael, our Personal God and Holy Self, I use the circle, which I also use to represent “LOVE.”  The circle is “love” because love is round, as an embrace is. Love is smooth. There are no sharp edges.

Unlike the circle, the triangle has sharp edges. That is why I chose it for Ercians to represent “KNOWLEDGE,” using those pointed corners to pick away at the unknown—to break apart problems and mysteries. Finally, the square represents “COURAGE,” because one has to face problems squarely to overcome fear.
