On rare occasions, when the muse accompanies me, I will give you my opinion on matters of concern. You may or may not agree with me, and that is fine. I believe in democracy and the free exchange of ideas. Like everybody else, sometimes I go overboard making an argument, and sometimes I change my mind. Therefore, after due consideratiion of my position and the feedback I get, I reserve the right to say "I am sorry, I apologize," "You are right and I was wrong," "I have changed my position," or whatever other phrase is appropriate to make amends or build consensus.
If you are wondering where the title of this web page The World According to Joseph originated, I owe it to my wife. Every now and then, whenever I am trying to convince her about some item of discussion and she strongly disagrees with my opinion, she'll say, "The World According to Joseph!" accompanied by "Sure. That must be right!" or some other expressions to let me know how she really feels. That is okay with me. I love her very much. We have been married over forty years.
Therefore, do not be shy. Feel free to disagree with me and let me know how you really feel. I am sure I will never love you like I love my wife, but I hope we can become friends. You can e-mail me at jmarchante@ercian.org.
